When do ragdoll cats mature
They are so much fun! We have a ragdoll for the last 10 years! He is very active when he wants to be! He is extremely spoiled and always has to be with someone in the house! He weighs lbs. He has quite a personality! How old do they live till? Thank you. There is a surprisingly broad range for Ragdoll cats, depending upon where you look anywhere from 12 to 17 years.
I was very concerned about his weight until reading this!! Looks like our Loki might pack on some more!! I have a Ragdoll — Jasper — who just turned 2. He is extremely loving and affectionate.
When I got him I already had a little 6. When I brought Jasper home he weighed 2. She just took over being the mother.
Now, he is two and weighs about 15lbs and she is 7 and still 6. They absolutely love each other. They play hard and if he gets too rough she has a special growl that sends him to the corner never any fighting, though.
They comfort each other when one is not feeling well. SHe will not even eat the wet food of any brand. Tried everything, but she is almost 10 pounds at 11 months old. We have a seal mitted male ragdoll 5 months old and 5.
He is ridiculously active and feels bony to me personally. I was wondering how to measure the height? I saw an article for Main Coon cats and it said to measure from paw to paw when outstretched. That puts our kitten at the max for height so I doubt this was the reference above. Does anyone know how to measure? Also, does anyone have an issue with poop sticking to the butt fur?? If you do are there any other suggestions besides trimming the fur? Always following us around and even plays fetch with his toys.
Not the toys we paid money for mind you, but whatever he finds that he feels should be a toy. Our Ragdoll had a problem with that as a kitten not so much as an adult. I read in a forum a while ago that if you rub their rib cage gently we all know that no ragdoll will turn away from this!!
My 20 year old female ragdoll cat is 5. We have 2 male ragdoll kittens nearly 10 months old. Both active although 1 more lazy than the other! Absolutely adorable breed would definitely recommend? I have a Russian blue x ragdoll male. He is nearly 10 months and weighs just over 8 pounds. Defenatly has more ragdoll in him.
I thought he was big for his age untill I read this. Other half though feels pushed out, cat get more love than he does? Our Ragdoll is 6 today. She weighs 14 pounds. She is pretty vocal, letting us know her wants. She has spurts of kitty crazies tearing about the house. Favorite game is tag. She is my little companion following me about the house. She is still very curious looking through waste baskets she can tip over loves crunchy paper. I weighed him this morning. Does this seem about right?
Does anyone have advice about when I should neuter him? I have two male ragdoll cats they are 13 months old.
The larger cat is 14 lbs, and the smaller one is 10 lbs. I have 2 male Ragdoll cats. We all normally assume that a larger animal is better able to defend itself than a smaller animal, but that logic does not apply with Ragdoll cat size.
They are so trusting and docile that they can easily be attacked or harmed. You may not even be aware that your poor Ragdoll is under threat to be able to stop it because they are also quiet kitties. Ragdoll cat size exceeds normal cat dimensions so all cat litter boxes, beds, and climby-toys may not fit them.
Buy the biggest litter box you can, consider that a covered one is probably not going to be an option, buy a bigger bed, and prepare for the fact that you might have to choose climby-toys without cubby holes.
Or go for a custom made climber. Any cat-napper might not do. However, at one year of age, you should be maintaining their weight as they have more or less officially reached adulthood. The volume of food they are given, needs to be controlled at this point.
As kittens, they needed the extra calories and volume of food for growth. The mistake many Ragdoll owners make, is continuing to feed them large volumes of food after one year of age. That food was to help them grow. A Ragdoll cat is supposed to have a muscular, rectangular body with semi-long fur. This makes them plenty cuddly. In fact, excess fat is very bad for them. Ragdolls go through development spurts until they reach the age of four when they attain their mature size. Due to environmental variables such as temperature, development appears to come to a halt during these transition stages. When your ragdoll has calmed down and has become one with the surroundings with your aid.
There is a noticeable rise in ragdoll growth at this time. A multitude of reasons, including being the runt of the litter, might trigger ragdoll growth spurts. When a ragdoll is really unwell, all growth and development cease for the time being; the ragdoll may even shrink and lose weight.
As time passes, you continue to provide treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian, and your ragdoll enters the recovery stage after it is free of sickness.
You use a number of ways to get your ragdoll back up and running during the healing stages, including replenishing its food. Ragdolls stop growing around the age of 3 to 4 years; all developmental activities in a ragdoll come to an end at this time, and only then can you say your ragdoll is fully grown or has stopped growing. Before this age, several things change around a ragdoll, most notably the continuous growth in coat color intensity, steady increase in weight, and slow increase in height and length.
