What happens if you become a bard skyrim

As the other answers have said, the Dragonborn cannot sing or play in the base game. However, if you're in to such things, there is a mod called Become a Bard by Pevey.

This mod lets you play all of the instrumental and voiced songs included with the game or choose from over new songs added by this mod. You can also add you own music and play it in-game. To play a song, equip a musical ability in your spell menu. Press the shout key to use the ability. Press the shout key again to stop playing. Each time you perform, your Bard Skill will increase.

See your stats in the bard journal in your inventory. Your follower will play along with you to any song with two parts. Some NPCs around you might applaud. Applause becomes more enthusiastic as your skill increases. NEW: there is more information about each song in the songbooks themselves, including the song titles, number of parts, instruments required, and song length. You can go up to any innkeeper and tell them you would like to perform. The tips will be minimal gold without perks , but it should be enough for a meal, and you also get a free room for the night.

Once you earn one of the bard perks see below , you can request to perform for a jarl. Jarls do not pay money, but if they like your performance there is a chance they will give you a gift random enchanted item. This means any of the other members are sensitive to being whacked to death, so make sure to be careful or else some radiant quests might be lost. Each faction in Skyrim has a specific role and is meant to attract a certain type of crowd.

The Companions are known for pulling in the fighter types, while the College of Winterhold is a safe haven for mages. This isn't any different with Solitude's famous Bards College. That being said, the definition of who can join the college is much wider than in other factions. It's not just for singers or talented musicians; public speakers and those fluent in the art of poetry are also very much welcomed in what seems like a school for art and literature rather than just bards.

Despite coming across a bit niche, the Bards College is actually something that has existed for a long time. In fact, since the Second Era of Tamriel something akin to it has been in existence and continued to spread and practice the art of music and storytelling. The college itself used to once be a guild, just like most of Tamriel's factions from the Fighters' Guild to the Mages' Guild.

The Empire actually outlawed these guilds in favor of colleges it could probably better control and keep an eye on. One would imagine that something like the Bards College would have a bunch of colorful, memorable characters, but the truth is that only one of them really sticks out.

Viarmo, the headmaster himself, is really the most important and flashiest character in the entire place. It's also interesting that he's an Altmer.
